Agree with you, Mishra et al (2014) said Employee engagement has emerged as one of the greatest challenges in today’s workplace. With complexities and stringent regulations in many organizations,
ReplyDeleteemployee engagement will continue to challenge organizations in the future.
Agreed with your point and adding to that, Employee Engagement is a concept that obtaining remarkable importance in the past 10 years. The organization today use engaged employees as a tool for well-being in the organization. The concept of employee engagement has now obtained more important since many concepts have been identified, which affect employee performance and success at the workplace (Bedarkar and Pandita, 2014).
DeleteAnd also Nivethini, employees can influence those around them. This influence transcends to the benefits of intrinsic rewards. Meaningful work will allow for an increase in employees participation, however, it does not guarantee that the employee will be engaged. The need for autonomy, intrinsic rewards, and influence are required to achieve employee engagement (Osborne 2017).
ReplyDeleteAgreed on your point Treva, It is proposed that engagement is a trending and important topic in every organization (Purcell, 2014). According to Welch (2011) employee engagement is a source of concern for leaders in organizations across the globe and an organizational top trend.
DeleteYes Nivethini, The trends of employee engagement you have mentioned is very vital in today's context due to COVID-19 as most employees work from home and it is important to find techniques to keep them engaged even if they are not physically present in the organization through communication, providing them moral support, hearing their opinions, providing them online trainings for their career growth and having a clear vision (Kumar, 2021).
ReplyDeleteExactly Arjun, With Covid-19, the whole functions of organizations across the world are getting change. More than ever, there should be more concern about keeping the employee engaged. The leadership instills them with confidence. Pay and benefits mean nothing if there’s a disconnect between employees and management. The Organization should make the employees feel like their opinions and feelings matter. More importantly, employees need to be able to express feedback and concerns (Saez, 2021).
DeleteAgree with your thoughts Nivethini. Career development and internal career opportunities are key components for strengthening employee engagement. High engagement has a significant impact
ReplyDeleteon the performance of the employees, their productivity, and the turnover (Zeuch,M.2016).
Exactly Wasantha, Employee engagement has many evolvements in the last three decades and is understood as a very popular and meaningful construct for its positive employee success and organizational success. Technological developments have remarkably influenced and increased the employee’s work efficiency levels. However, the breakthrough technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, virtual reality, augmented reality, automation has brought opportunities and threats to employee engagement (Bhuwaneshwari and Kumar, 2017).
DeleteAgreed with you Nivethini and adding that, (Harter et al., 2002) found that both employee satisfaction and engagement have a direct relationship to business outcomes.
ReplyDeleteYes Eranda, Employee engagement is the employee’s active involvement in work and the condition of full physiology, cognition, and emotion that accompanies the work engagement (Cha, 2007).
DeleteAgree Nivethini, People create business value. That is an indisputable fact. This is illustrated by the fact that a software company with 1,000 employees and few physical assets can be worth billions of dollars. People are the intangibles.
ReplyDeletePeople also are emotional and fickle. They want to be won over often. That is why
employee engagement can be an organization’s great differentiator in times of stability or in times of rapid change. When you have a Culture of Engagement, your competitors better take notice(Hewitt,A.,2017)
Yes Wasantha, Employee engagement is a process of learning, improvement, measurement, and action (Anand and Banu, 2011). Employee engagement might affect performance. Employees who have the right job fit and are intense about work will perform well and continue to work for an organization (Marrelli, 2011).
DeleteWell agree with you Nivethini. Disengaged employees putting no effort to their work, display incompleteness in work and robotic nature who will negatively affect the team performance (Kahn
ReplyDelete1990).
Agreed, Disengaged employees do the minimum amount of work, resist change, are negative, and see the work as boring (Marrelli, 2011).
DeleteWhile agreeing with your view I would like to add that new studies have widely agreed that engagement arises from both personal and environmental sources (Macey & Schneider, 2008).
ReplyDeleteAgreed and further, Management can get an understanding from employee survey results to get knowledge of how employees perceive work-related issues that affect employees and what is the level of employee engagement (Bishop, 2013).
